Recognizing that education is a crucial pillar in building an advanced and highly competitive nation towards Indonesia Emas 2045, LearningRoom from PT 8 Elements invites relevant government stakeholders, the private sector, and the social activist community to launch an impactful and sustainable educational CSR campaign in Indonesia.

Through a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) event with the theme "Changemakers Hub for Leaders - Sustainable CSR Initiatives: How Education Can Drive Transformative Change!", at the Uptown Serviced Office "Event Space" in Kuningan, Jakarta, on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, LearningRoom aims to emphasize the urgency of cross-sector collaboration to find superior CSR programs that support the equitable distribution of quality education and identify concrete steps to maximize the synergy potential of the three sectors.

The event's speakers include the Social Development Pillar Manager at the SDGs National Secretariat of the Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas, Dr. Sanjoyo, MEc.; the founder of KBF Indonesia and former Special Staff to the President of Indonesia for the 2019-2024 term, Billy Mambrasar; the Partnership Manager at Campaign, Noriko Adhyanti; Partnership Specialist and Donor Account Representative Manager at Human Initiative, Ade Shinta Dewi; and the Head of Business Operations at LearningRoom, Avinda Akil. This event was attended by dozens of participants from various CSR-driven sectors in Indonesia.

"During our multiple visits to different regions to introduce LearningRoom, we have become increasingly aware of the real and significant issue of education inequality in Indonesia," stated Avinda Akil, the Head of Business Operations at LearningRoom, when discussing the background of this FGD. "Unfortunately, the majority of children in marginal and rural areas still lack access to quality education. As a result, it is our collective responsibility to make a tangible difference in the world of education."

Education has always been the key to a better future for any country. With the vision of a Golden Indonesia in 2045, the role of CSR campaigns in the education sector is becoming more crucial than ever. What is the role and contribution of each sector in achieving a prosperous future for the next generation?

Government Support and the Role of CSR in Sustainable Development

In his presentation, Dr. Sanjoyo revealed several data, statistics, and developments in achieving the SDGs at the local and global levels. Out of the 233 indicators, only around 62.7% have been realized, showing significant progress.

In the field of education, Indonesia is slightly behind compared to several neighboring countries in Asia in terms of education completion rates at each level. Even though there has been an upward trend in the last three years, transformation is needed to optimize the quality of learning outcomes at all levels.

According to him, the government has provided support in the form of regulations and policies that encourage the involvement of the private sector in education CSR. This includes updating Presidential Decree No. 59 of 2017, regarding the Role of the Private Sector in Achieving the SDGs, with Presidential Decree No. 111 of 2020. This added articles on innovative funding sources other than the APBN, APBD, or other legal and non-binding sources.

"The role of CSR in sustainable development is crucial, particularly in addressing the various challenges facing society. CSR that aligns with the SDGs plays a significant role in combatting poverty, enhancing education, promoting health, achieving gender equality, and ensuring environmental sustainability," explained Dr. Sanjoyo. "In addition, community empowerment through CSR initiatives can help reduce social disparities and foster a more inclusive and sustainable society."

Three-sector Partnerships: Key Pillars of Sustainable Education

Whether it's the private sector, government, or the CSR activist community, each has a strategic role in ensuring sustainable education.

In the private sector, many companies have been involved in educational CSR programs. They not only provide financial support, but also play a role in technological development and innovation.

However, achieving the three-sector partnership requires the involvement of CSR activists. They act as catalysts for change, voicing the urgent need for quality education through CSR programs.

As agents of change, CSR activists have the power to raise public awareness and encourage participation in promoting sustainable education in Indonesia.

LearningRoom: Innovative Solutions for Continuing Education

With joint commitment, the grand vision of Indonesia Emas 2045 is getting closer to becoming a reality, where education becomes a force for social and economic transformation in order to create a bright future for future generations!
