“I’m scared of saying it wrong…”
It sounds like a simple sentence.
But for many children, that fear is very real when learning English.
Some suddenly go quiet when asked to read aloud.
Some refuse to answer even when they actually know the answer.
Others slowly lose interest every time English class begins.
For parents, situations like this can feel confusing.
At home, children may seem:
But the moment English appears, their confidence suddenly disappears.
And many of us immediately assume:
“Maybe my child just isn’t good at English.”
When in reality, that may not be the real problem at all.
Most children actually want to try.
They are curious.
They want to understand.
They simply fear making mistakes.

Over time, children begin choosing silence instead.
And from the outside, it often looks like:
they dislike English.
For many elementary school children, English is not just another subject.

Sometimes the changes do not need to be dramatic.

Maybe many children never hated English in the first place.

And sometimes, the most important thing we can give children is not pressure to become perfect.

“It’s okay to make mistakes. I can still learn.”
