I Thought My Child Was Lazy — I Was Wrong

Bagikan artikel:

Have you ever felt like your child is just… lazy when it comes to studying?

I have.

Every time I asked my child to sit down and learn, something would happen:

And honestly, at some point, I started thinking:

“Maybe my child really is just lazy.”

It made sense at the time.
And maybe… you’ve had the same thought too.

But it turns out, I was wrong.

The Moment It Clicked

One day, I decided to stop.

Not stop caring.
But stop pushing.

Instead, I just observed.

Not what my child was doing…
but how they reacted while learning.

And that’s when I started noticing something I had completely missed before.

👉 My child wasn’t refusing to learn.

👉 They were uncomfortable with how they were learning.

What We Often Overlook

As parents, we tend to simplify things:

But reality isn’t that simple.

More often than not, when a child gets bored quickly, it’s not because they don’t want to learn…

👉 It’s because the way they’re learning doesn’t work for them.

It could be:

Why This Happens

Children today are growing up in a very different world.

They’re used to:

Meanwhile, many traditional learning approaches are:

👉 That’s where the disconnect happens.

It’s not that children don’t want to learn.
It’s that the environment doesn’t match how they naturally engage.

When I Changed My Approach

I didn’t suddenly have all the answers.

But I started with small changes:

And honestly… the results surprised me.

My child:

It wasn’t a dramatic transformation.

But something shifted.

It felt… more alive.

What I Learned Along the Way

For a long time, I believed:

Children need to adjust.

But now I see it differently.

👉 Sometimes, we need to adjust how we support them.

It doesn’t mean everything has to change.

But maybe… the approach can be better aligned with who they are.

Before Calling Your Child “Lazy”

If you’ve ever thought:

My child is just lazy when it comes to studying

Take a moment.

Pause.

And ask yourself:

👉 Are they really unwilling to learn?
👉 Or have they just not found a way that works for them yet?

Because sometimes…

the problem isn’t the child.

👉 It’s how we see them—and how we guide them.
